BAM AT W+K

Meet the textile designer BAM, we had a chat with her about her work. Tell us about you and what you do? I am a Textile designer and I design and print my own patterns onto high quality fabrics that are then made into clothes and accessories. My inspiration comes from translating digital processes into physical mediums. Tell us about your Geo and Code Pattern bags and pencil cases?

The pencil cases are made from thick cotton drill with my Code and Geo pattern design printed onto them. All the fabric is printed by me and I make the pencil cases in my studio in London. What inspired you to make Geo and Code Pattern bags and pencil cases? The fabric prints are designed to echo modern digital structures, but recreated in a traditional physical form. Simplified, rigid, grid based repeats on fabric that will in time soften and fade with age, which is not possible for electronic codes. What are you working on at the moment?

I am currently working with a photographer on some tri colour separation techniques to create new highly saturated images that could be digitally printed onto fabric. I want to further develop some experiments with glitch images and pixellated colour gradients.   Last but not least, what are your thoughts on affordable design? I think everyone should have good design in their lives, whether it is affordable is relative to the individual. See more of BAM’s worke here
